Inches away from greatness
The Who concert in London, Ontario was more than what any Who fan could ask for. To be surrounded by old Who friends and meeting new ones was incredible. I hope to see you all again in Toronto. I managed to score 4th row floor, Pete's side tickets and asked my special friend, Danielle to sit with me. She has been a rock for me these past few months. When I think of Danielle my heart is touched and I get all emotional and only her and I know why we feel close to one another. She has never ever forgotten about me whenever she goes on a Who related event. She's brought back programmes, shirts and pictures for me. I never ask her to pick up anything for me, she just does. She was my natural choice to ask to sit with me.
Prior to the show we stood outside near the stage door. We were soon rewarded. Pete came out of his bus, turned and went back in. We were deep in conversation so we were taken aback by his presence. We anxiously awaited his return knowing he had to come back out again to go into the venue. He did and with Apryl with us we yelled out, "Pete!! Pete!!" He turned, looked at us and waved. Very cool.
The seats for the concert were amazing I was so HAPPY and shocked at how close it was to the stage. I took over 100 pictures from the time they came on to the last few songs. The only way I can describe their performance is similar to an explosion. Full of energy and loud and full of emotion. The lads looked like they were having fun despite some technical difficulties. I've never sat so close to a Who concert before so I was soaking in facial expressions, comments and body language. The concert was emotional, the songs were emotional. It was a perfect evening. My soul was recharged and energized.
After the show we rushed out to the stage door again. After waiting what seemed like years Pete came out and signed autograghs along the line of people. He came within a few inches of me even though I had two guys in my way. I had a clear view of him and that was the closest I've ever been to him. I never thought I'd have a chance to be that close. It was a perfect end to an amazing concert.
All of us who were staying at the same hotel, met up in one of the rooms and sat around drinking and chatting. Thank you Danielle, Apryl, Elizabeth, Carly, Vivian, Chris, Rianne and Colin for a great time. I had one of the best weekends of my life.
